Annual Pacific International Tournament
June 15th, 2011 – Richmond, BC – This past weekend, the Richmond Olympic Oval was host to the 1st annual Pacific International Youth Volleyball Tournament. The event saw 15U and 16U divisions with teams from BC, Alberta and Washington State. It was the first opportunity for this age group to compete at the Richmond Olympic Oval, a venue that is considered the best place to hold a volleyball tournament in BC. With 8+ wood and Pulastic court surfaces, a limitless ceiling and numerous other services, the Oval turned out to be a favourite place to compete for athletes, coaches and spectators.
In the 15U division Canuck Ignite, Alberta’s provincial champions defeated Seaside, BC’s provincial champions for the gold medal. Shockwave from Washington won the bronze over BCO, this year’s BC silver medalists.
In the 16U division Air Attack from Richmond (BC’s provincial silver medalists) defeated Seaside Volleyball Club to win gold. Kamali’i from Washington took the bronze, defeating the Ducks, BC’s defending provincial champions in the other medal match.
